Yes, adult dogs can be potty trained, it will just take a lot of patience.  It is never too late for potty dog training.

Potty dog training for a puppy is easier, but there is no reason why you can’t train your dog so long as you give him time to learn and progress his actions.

Make sure you keep an eye on your pet and this will ensure that you don’t have too many accidents to clear up.  You can always use a leash so that you are restricting his movements whilst the training is taking place.
