First things first, training dogs is not hard!  All you need is patience, perseverance and a little bit of guidance!  With these in place you will successfully train your dog.

Here are some top dog training tips to help you with training your dog properly so that you can be sure he will be obedient and behave in the way you want him to. 1.  It is best if one person is responsible for training the dog, as it may cause him confusion if several people are trying to teach him – dogs need to be able to learn to recognize commands easily, and this is best if it always comes from the same person, at least in the beginning of the traning program.

2.  Try to use positive reinforcements, so if your dog does well then reward him – this way he will soon learn that what he did pleased you, and he will want to do it again.  If the dog does not understand what you want, or doesn’t follow your instruction, never punish him – it will all fall into place eventually, just give it time.  If you start to scold your dog he may well become fearful, and this will hinder his training.  So make sure to use treats and plenty of praise to encourage and no reprimanding when he does not quite do it right.

3.  Always teach just the one command at the time, and only move onto the next command when he has mastered the first one properly.  If you start to add extra commands when he is not totally sure of the previous one then you will only be confusing him.

4.  When you are training your dog, keep your voice cheerful and the dog will be much more likely to do as you say.  If you shout your commands to him you may startle him and he will become unresponsive to you.

5.  Give your dog variety.  Do not just train him in your home, but sometimes take him out to the park.   This way he will be able to make adjustments to new people, and also allow him to start to socialize with other dogs.

Training your dog can be tough sometimes, but it is certainly worthwhile and having a well trained dog will be a fantastic reward for all your hard work.
