Before you begin your pet dog training, it is good to know just what options are out there. All types of dog training will vary in price and in what they have to offer.

If you are looking to train your puppy then one option would be a puppy pre-school. A puppy pre-school is a dog training course that is specifically aimed at puppies from about 8 weeks upto around 5 or 6 months. They are generally geared around a program of 6-8 weeks. During your puppies training he will learn how to socialize with other puppies as well as with people. He will also learn the basic commands of “sit” “stay”, and “come”, which are the three essential commands.

If you are looking to undertake pet dog training with a dog that is over around 5 or 6 months, then you would be able to go for a basic training course.  Again the course would normally be worked around a program lasting between 8 and 10 weeks. Here your dog will be taught how to walk properly on the leash, how to sit and stay along with some other basic commands.

Intermediate dog training courses will cover the next stage in your pet dog training- This type of course will go over the basics covered in the previous dog training courses, but in a more detailed way. For instance you will be able to teach your dog how to stay for a longer period of time. He will also be taught how to obey commands given to him by others.

The internediate dog training will last for 8 – 10 weeks and is aimed at dogs over 5 months of age. Any dog undertaking this course should have already covered the basic dog training course or be able to carry out the basic commands as taught by the owner.

Then you come to the advanced pet dog training course. This is a more detailed look at the previous course, and it meant for dogs that have already taken the previous courses, or be at the same level if the owner has been training.
