Tips To Prevent Your Puppy Chewing

It is very important that you give love and care to your puppy, but if they show destructive behavior like chewing furniture and other household items, you are going to want to address the situation. The reasons for puppy chewing can be boredom, anxiousness, and stress. Puppy chewing can be a part of its teething.  Do not punish your dog for destroying your furniture or household item. Punishment is not a solution for puppy chewing. Dogs usually use their mouths as humans use their hand for shifting one object from one place to another. Give them toys to chew and let them play themselves. When giving toys, do not give toys like old shoes or other household items as the dog can’t differentiate between your old and new items.

Puppy chewing is common because dogs use their mouths for analyzing things. Do not keep your socks, shoes, or household item which you don’t want your dog to chew near them or anywhere which they easily get to.  Give your dog as many doggie toys as possible. Make sure that you give your pup teething toys while they are going through teething – these will help to keep them away from your things.

If the puppy chewing goes on past the teething stage, you need to find the reason for your dog chewing. For an active dog, one indication may involve in digging, chewing or shredding when they are bored. Provide them toys which keep them active all day on your absence. Dog chewing can be the dog showing separation anxiety. It can be from moving to new place, absence or death of a family member or death of other pets.

Dog chewing can also be a dog’s way of  seek attention. You may be busy with your work and unable to care your pet or you ma bey keeping your dog unattended for long time and to seek your attention or of family members dogs may tend to start chewing.

Sometimes dog feel insecure and dog tends to show chewing. It can be of fear like fear from thunder sound or exposed to loud noise like construction sounds or firecrackers. Provide them safe place and comfort him with your or family members presence. Crate your dog only if it is trained to be in a crate.

There are many solutions for your dogs chewing. Find time to play with them and make them feel your love and care. A Dog is the best friend for man who wants love and care. Spend some time with daily or whenever you are free.

Dogs love to go for walks, so if possible, take them for walk two times a day. It not only helps them to feel a change from their boredom but also builds a strong relationship  with you. Teach them commands like “Sit”, “Stop”, and “Drop it” while training. This will help you to give commands when the dog chews something or tries to misbehave.

Provide toys which keep them full of active when you or your family has gone out for long time. Play with them and teach them to use the toys for playing. Remember  to  rotate the toys or else the dog could become bored again and revert back to the unacceptable behavior.  Do not give toys which they can tear or shred it. Ensure the safety of pet and that  they never get hurt from the toys you provide.

Praise your dog when it play with toys you provided or whenever it does good with the toy.  Your dog loves to receiveyour love and your  care.
