Puppy Dog Training
Puppy dog training is a really important part of dog ownership. That cute little puppy needs to be taught how to behave in the right way. A puppy does need a lot of training, but the effort is well worth it in the long run.
A puppy is going to have its own personality and temperament, which will depend partly on the breed of dog and also on where they were born, and how they were treated from birth until they came to you. As the breed of the puppy will play a large part in how the dog will turn out it is important to have a few basic facts about some of the breeds. For instance a German shepherd has been primarily bred to be a guard dog, so will have an instinct to protect his family. Border Collies are bred as herding dogs and are very active dogs, so they will need plenty of exercise.
Training your puppy can seem to be very daunting, but really it just takes time and patience. Just spend a few minutes at a time as your puppy will get tired easily and lose interest quickly.
The most basic tasks involved in puppy dog training are teaching simple commands like how to come to you when called, how to sit, how to walk to heel by your side, and how to stay when told to. Most puppies will learn this very quickly, especially with lots of rewards!
Training your brand new puppy can be very exciting and lots of fun for you and your puppy. Remember to enforce positive training and do not punish if your puppy makes a few mistakes. The puppy dog training that is done now will go into making your puppy a well adjusted adult dog, that is well behaved and a pleasure to have around.
